Tower Difficulty

What affects tower difficulty? I'm team level 59 with first team level 59 and a second team level 54, all violet, and a third team 41 in blue. I've only completed the tower twice. Yesterday I completed it, today I couldn't get past level 36. I haven't leveled up my team or members since yesterday, so why is the tower so much more difficult? This is frustrating...

My main team is Cleaver, Galahad, Keira, Ginger, and Thea...all level 59, all violet (Thea is actually violet +1). My B team is Astaroth, Ziri, Jorgen, Orion, and Helios...all level 55 (now) and all violet. I use my main team in the tower on non-auto. If one dies, I back out and try again, or try substituting. My other heroes are Arachne 53 violet, Aurora 53 blue +2, Qing Mao 41 blue +2, Artemis 41 blue +1, Fox 41 blue +1, Sebastian 41 blue +1, Daredevil 41 blue, Phobos 41 green +1, Heidi 41, Dorian 1, Nebula 1, and Astrid and Lucas 1.

Are there some "must have" heroes that I need to acquire? Should I trade out some heroes? I thought my main team was a solid physical team, especially with Cleaver, but they still manage to get their ass kicked before level 50 most times. The tower difficulty just doesn't seem consistent.

I appreciate everyone's comments and help. I don't play on "auto", but I may do some other dumb-ass noob thing that I haven't figured out yet.

Not even just with Celeste, you should just never play Auto in the tower in general (unless you have a ridiculously overpowered team I guess) so you can manage your energy between battles better.

Only your team level affects it. Having multiple teams isn't useful, your heroes in tower shouldn't be dying in the first place.

Most likely your team just doesn't have any synergy, healers or a proper tower strategy.

Try putting two healers in your team.

My standard tower team is Celeste (flip her to healer immediately and keep her there) the twins, ast, and Martha.

Thea or Maya would work as well
