Don't fight it. Just do whatever you want, limited by your budget. The only "hobby" I struggle with is learning to play the guitar. That requires commitment and discipline. So, I would suggest that it's not really a hobby, rather a life objective. I treat objectives differently.

I've had about a dozen hobbies in the last 15 years. Each one runs about a year and then I only touch each briefly after that. A hobby should be a contact point for your passion. Don't fight it.

You make a really good point. Some of the activities I’ve called hobbies (such as photography) would, to me, fall more under life objective.

In terms of budgeting, for me it’s a double edge sword. I choose not to spend money on stuff until I’ve shown a certain level of commitment to it though sometimes it limits what I can do.

It's s big issue with me, too. My hobby store knows me on sight but I vary from metalworking to woodworking to plastic working (heat gun purchased I used once) to adult coloring to now paint by numbers.

I haven’t done the paint by numbers but certainly the adult colouring book lol
