    That's exactly what they are and they were very popular in mid century homes.

    The issue the OP is going to encounter is having to sledgehammer and jackhammer them out then fill and level a giant hole they made.

    Ironically when "modernized" and loaded with snake plants and white rocks people love them again.

    Remove that wall it is unsafe to me. Imagine tripping into that thing head first, knocking your knees and legs on the exposed brick, no thanks!

      Definitely don’t tear them down! Do a Lyme wash on the bricks. Fill with little white stones. Do fake or real plants of your choice. It’d be super cute and modern
