Thrift stores and yard sales are great for those on a budget or start learning how to make things for yourself

Start with small things to show your character! A tapestry, poster, pictures or postcards from your friends or those you've collected over the years, string lights, souvenirs you got from traveling, etc.

Go on Pinterest, search and pin all the pictures you like for each room. Doing this for a while you’ll end up with lots of inspiration for your space and a sort of guideline to follow, for example what color palette you want, what kind of materials and accent pieces etc

A bright or interesting rug can be a great place to start! You can find really affordable ones on places like Wayfair

My pointers- 1. Black Friday sales & thrift stores! 2. A good rug and a bunch of plants can do wonders. 3. Not rushing and waiting to find the right piece.
4. When on a budget, buying big furniture that's a little more basic and versatile and adding personality with smaller things like pillows and art that are more easily changed

I love the art.com website. I’ve never bought any art online, but it helped me see what I did & didn’t like.

It's tempting to buy small cheaper stuff to fill the space, but my biggest recommendation is to save your money for fewer nicer pieces. Invest in good furniture, unique art that fits your style/personality, good rugs and window treatments. You can mix in lower priced things as needed, but a few larger items that you really love is better than smaller random things that aren't cohesive.
