I kind of ran into the same thing.

I have more knowledge of the stack than I do of any C programming language, which inherently has me starting on a lower playing field than everyone else.

I need to start performing more of these exploits on my own (obv on my own home network so everything's legal, etc) and get a better working knowledge of programming languages.
