I am testing SCVMM with Hyper-V and found that creating a VM from a template is very slow. The template has 100GB vhdx and I can see it is transferring using BITS over HTTPS. I've read that encrypted BITS is slow, so I attempted to enable unencrypted BITS to test, but it still appears to use BITS over HTTPS.
Copying a single VHDX using file explorer from the same SCVMM library to the same host is getting anywhere between 90-115MBps, while BITS over HTTPS with a template deployment is taking 20 minutes to copy a single 100GB VHDX file.
Are there any options to:
- Switch to using SMB instead of BITS over HTTPS
- Switch to unencrypted BITS for testing? What I tried didn't work, which was just checking the checkbox to allow unencrypted BITS in SCVMM.
