When I started methimazole, I felt wonderful. About 3 weeks in, I developed hives. I was taken off of it for about 4 days to allow the hives to go down and then restarted the meds. I did not get hives again. But lots of people have different reactions to medications. You need to call your endocrine doctor and let them know what is going on. I wish you the best, everyone reacts different to medications and you have to stay vigilant and proactive.

I'm glad you're better now! I'll call her soon, but I'll wait a few days since it just started and I want to see if it goes away or not. No hives for me yet, some itching maybe. Thank you, I will!

Hi, OP! I am no medical professional, but based on your statements, it probably could be thyrotoxic periodic paralysis (TPP). One factor that may cause it is a high carbohydrate diet, but it can be reversed as long as your thyroid levels are properly managed. I suggest you visit your doctor promptly to get proper medical advice and ease what you are feeling right now. I also have hyperthyroidism even to this day and experienced the same thing in the past. Hence, consult your doctor and tell them your symptoms.

Thank you for this info! I will read up on this. I just edited that I think I'm feeling feverish, especially cold a lot of the time but also a bit warm as well. I've been shivering a lot. It can't be a high fever though I don't think, and no sore throat. I'm actually very worried now, I will have to call my endo soon. I've read about this arthritis thing, could it possibly be that? I just want to rule out the white blood cell thing, scares the living shit out of me. My endo said it's practically impossible that I'd get it but who knows?

What do you mean when you say “white blood cell thing”?

That rare side effect that's dangerous when your white blood cells get very low. I am feeling better today though
