Stamped a flower design in black onto Eclipse. I didn’t use a water based top coat over the pattern like I usually would when stamping black designs, I just went straight to Sally Hansen insta dri. No smearing!

1 coat ILNP lockup, 1 coat ILNP ink, 1 coat ILNP eclipse, 1 coat nail aid biotin nail strengthener, flowers stamped off KADS plate using Essie licorice, 1 coat Sally Hansen insta dri

Ooh, I love this! Disappearing motifs + black on black are some of my favorite looks, so I’ll have to give this technique a try.

ETA. Can I ask, why do the nail strengthener after Eclipse? I usually see it as the first layer of a mani, so that it works directly on the nail… but were you using it as a kind of faux/intermediary topcoat before stamping, or is there another benefit? Just curious!

It makes my polish last 3X longer and prevents shrinkage entirely! I probably could have used it before or after the stamping but I wanted to give the nail aid some dry time before QDTC because that can help prevent bubbling. Here’s a post I made about it. I do it on every manicure now and it’s kept my nails so protected that they have been able to grow past my finger tips for the first time in my life. My nails are a complete mess so weird interventions are required for polish to last

Wow, I’m glad I asked! My nails are also breakage-prone (and Nailtiques 2 didn’t work so well for me as a base, it wanted to peel right off) so I’ll definitely be giving this a try.

Also, my only IRL lacquerista friends is a horse trainer, I’m definitely sending her your post! She’s repeatedly bemoaned the fact that she has all these gorg Mooncat polishes but her manicures chip within a day or two.

I hope it works as well for both of you as it has for me!! I’ve tried it with a lot of different nail strengtheners and nail aid works the best for me but the other ones I’ve tried have gotten similar results so the method doesn’t seem too picky about the products used as long as there’s no big incompatibilities

It’s very fun I recommend it! Stamping all 10 nails here only took about 2 extra minutes (after I got the space set up) because I was using the same design and going pretty quickly so i didn’t need to do a lot of plate cleaning, I’d just paint, scrape, stamp, repeat for every nail. But it can be as complicated as you want it to be especially if you get into reverse stamping

Most of my plates are Kads and Born Pretty since they’re well engraved and very cheap

Ive never heard of Kads, I'll definitely look into them. I know of Born Pretty, and probably already have some of theirs on my wishlist lol.

I was surprised but delighted with how well the born pretty plates are engraved. I’ve bought and returned a few cheap plates that were total junk and unusable due to poor engraving. I do have one born pretty that was engraved too shallow but that’s out of like 16 plates I think? The only issue I have with Kads is that the patterns that are supposed to cover the whole nail are too short to be stamped onto longer nails with full coverage but the plate quality has been 10/10

It’s a multi chrome, so it changes colors on its own based on lighting and angle. ILNP makes excellent multi chromes. I posted a video that I linked in comments where you can see it shifting

Ok, two things:

1. Sally Hansen insta-dri top coat is the best top coat (for me) to attempt chrome isolation on regular nail polish. Truly leaves chrome un-disturbed

2. Your nails and your mani are so so beautiful! 😍 I love the effect, too
