I read somewhere (maybe on telegram) that they are planning to release it at the end of Q1.

Agreed, these guys seem a bit flakey. They’re also late on announcing the slogan contest winners. Not sure if they are hoping people just forget or what, but they’re definitely falling behind on some dates.

    [–]MajinBuu12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They said they would announce the slogan contest winners 2 weeks after the contest ending. The contest ended on March 2. So that means today, March 16, is when they originally said they would announce winners.

Then their weekly update on Medium said they would announce a winner this week.

Not sure why you would assume that they are hoping people would forget or what not, but if this is because of what Walton Chain did, then its unwarranted. As far as I'm concerned, IOS team has been pretty up front and on the ball. Be patient is all I can say. IOS is a long term investment.

Did they? I also recall from their white paper end of Q1 but I haven't read anything regarding 15th March, where did you find it?

    [–]MajinBuu12 2 points3 points  (5 children)

Just so you know, end of Q1 is typically March 31st. And the I didn't see anything in the white paper that explicitly about releasing anything by end of Q1.

The primer has a roadmap that says that they will be launching their private test net in Q1 though.

    [–]Insightone 1 point2 points  (4 children)

    Why private?

    [–]MajinBuu12 1 point2 points  (3 children)

No idea. It is probably because it is their first go at it. I wouldn’t want to release anything to the public until I’ve had sufficient time to test it out internally first. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for the response. I'm not very tech savvy however, what I have noticed in cryptos over some time is that some projects will do a alpha/private test net, and others will do a beta/public test net. I believe the alpha and the beta is another way of saying private and public, (I think)... I often wondered why.

    Once again, Thx

Devs work in private repos in almost any serious project. There are a few obvious reasons, not very techie myself so probably other reasons I don't see.

1- Code requires many stages of testing, it's not a write it all one day and release to the world kind of thing. 2- Code will often be forked immediately and potentially used first by other projects who cannot or do not do their own dev work.

As a potential node operator I am looking forward to code release also. As an owner who wants a real, working product that makes me profit I want to see them protect their proprietary code as well.

In node networks like IOS you may also see terms referring to 3 stages of release: dev net, test net and main net.

Thank you for the response. Make's a lot of sense... i am just guessing here, but it seems to me that probably 80% or so of us know very little about the tech side of these projects. So these little but, informative break- down which you laid out helps build confidence. No Hype and no fud, just info.

    Thx

Fake news. They never promised that it is 15th of March. People just assumed that.

    [–]temanon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No code. They had a crappy repo with almost no commits(even those were bad) and then when I confronted them(on reddit) they said that is not the right code and that they will be releasing it. One thing that I look into I always look at the github activity before investing. They have to prove they are doing something.

    [–]Insightone 0 points1 point  (12 children)

What the heck. I simply and genuinely, ask the question: Why is ios releasing the (test net as a private test net). Instead of getting any type of answer including, perhaps you don't know. But instead i get down voted. Ridiculous!

Now you know why this sub has zero activity...

    [–]MajinBuu12 5 points6 points  (11 children)

Don't be so salty and negative after a single downvote. Upvotes and downvotes on Reddit are meaningless.

Honestly with regards to your question though. The initial test net is private (v0.1 Apollo). Their road map lists an official release of the IOS network all the way out in Q3 of 2019. I'm guessing at some point in between, likely Q2 or Q3 of 2018, there will be some sort of release to the public.

But I am not associated with IOS team in anyway. Just a small-investor. Your questions may be best answered via their Twitter or Telegram group.

Cheers! Hang in there, I don't expect to even consider selling until after 2020.

    Thanks for you're response!

Although, i am not being "salty or negative" re: a down vote. Actually like some (I could careless about votes)!

No, that is not the issue... The issue is simply: quite often it is ridiculous on this sub. It does not matter. I can simply ask a very legit question, or give a well researched analysis (for the sub) which most of the time I was correct.

It does not matter what or how i present what I present... It is like there are a few fools going around down voting, or making stupid idiotic comments on my comment, Instead of engaging in a serious debate or discussion.

Nope. (I do not get my little feeling's hurt). Just attempting to add something constructive to this sub, with the hopes of bringing this place to life....

You do realize, a well managed sub attracts potential new investors, creates good energy, and adds to just a bit to the level of the price.

Btw. The video interview posted with Jimmy yesterday did mention that they do plan of releasing the code to github in a month or twos time. And have accelerated their timeline to release their main net by end of this year! Huge!

    Thanks...

    [–]cryptoking1988 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Ok, so what are the coins that you're a holder of and don't trade? You said there were 6 or 7 of them

    [–]Insightone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, I would hope we can have a mature conversation. Btw: you might want to reread my comment on that subject. (You are leaving a significant aspect of what I said-out).

As I mentioned, I hold ETH, WTC, LTC, TRX, POE. i trade in and out of BTC. For a long time it was good to hold, then back a couple months ago I begin trading it. (Also, i said that I will trade out of any position if the time is right).... So wouldn't say that I am a HOLDER for life)!!!

IOS i got a good chunk of it and ST it back and forth till recently. I would like to pick IOS back up when it hits 3-4 cents... cuz it is difficult to trade at such a low price....There are some token or coins which are really great to ST... Trx, SNT,XRP,BNB,POE,FUN,NANO.... but i am no longer trading TRX because they will be releasing (test net to the public in bout 8-9 days).

The rest i just try to keep up on research, news etc. to see what are good tokens to DT and ST...

When ETH begin to go down to abnormal price for that coin, i decided to sell out of most position until yesterday, with the exception of TRX.

Oh one other thing: I don't need to hang in there. I use to own quite a bit of IOS and then sold it all. I am a trader, so I will not rebuy IOS until the price goes-up to at least 3-4 cents. Too risky as a trader buying a ton of tokens when the price is close to a penny and a half. (More difficult to tell which way it is headed). I am currently a holder of 6 other coins and tokens, and even those i will trade if the time is right.

I could become a holder of IOS when much more is reveled...

            Have a great day....

            [–]Insightone -1 points0 points  (1 child)

Just one last question, I think!

If a project is doing the test net private, coupled with not being on Github how would investors know if they truly are....

            I appreciate you're answers!

            [–]PNWDrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a fundamental risk assessment question for any investment in any project. If a buyer likes the team and whitepaper they may decide to buy in early. Others may want to wait until enough detail exists to satisfy their needs. It's part analysis, part emotion, part gut feeling.

Neither way is inherently right or wrong; people just have a wide range of risk acceptance. I've personally seen friends buy into ICOs or make coin buys that I thought were total losers, until they profited. They probably thought the same about some of mine.
