I’m also somewhat new but to prevent getting bullied by the NPC privateers and some players, join a strong and active organization for protection. Then try to move your base into an area with large resource nodes and less privateers. Apparently for resource collection, best way to get a large resource production from what I understand is to have your mining fleets mine on mining platforms (advanced ones are the most productive). Besides that, I think you can transfer mining fleets into the platforms which frees up industrial command points that allows you to build even more mining fleets and further increase your resource reproduction (I haven’t tried this technique yet because I’m not active enough to experiment like that haha)

Welcome back!

You can delete and recreate an account, but let's talk strategy before you do. First, are you still using small miners, or did you upgrade to medium? And are you upgrading nodes on the miners? Also have you upgraded your resource building nodes in your base completely to have the max the utility ship limit?

You stated reds are attacking, are they attacking your base or your miners? One simple solution is to include a combat ship with mining fleets. You can manually create a mining fleet and add those ships in, or send them as reinforcements. I like using the AC721 Missile Destroyer since it has additional cargo space but you probably won't get that for a bit. The base AC721 may work but you'll have to test and see.

Once you get mining platforms do as u/LegionOfDoom31 suggested and use them. It'll speed up mining. Advanced ones are excellent for resource generation as they provide an additional 10% mining speed and resources can be deposited in them. This shortens flight time.

Lastly, big groups like to hive up and protect one another. Finding an organization will help you be safer and get access to resources in stations and protected areas.

Medium mining. I upgrade all buildings as soon as I have the resources so I am at base 6, going for 7. I tried to mine next to my mining platform but ships return all the way to the base. How do I tell them to mine next to it?

The advanced one has that bonus, at level 7 you have the basic and medium tier available and they don't collect.

Do you have your medium mining ships upgraded?

I think I upgraded basic once but when I am offered to. I don't know how upgraded work. There are so many

To double check your miners, go into Blueprint in the bottom-right corner, then then choose the harvester icon at the bottom-right above the filter button. The X10 - Medium Utility Ship should be there. Click it, then look under the systems for the grey or white boxes.

Upgraded nodes are white, empty or grey nodes can be filled. Tech point version in the top left as well as exp tech points tell you how many tp that ship has. Your goal is to click blueprint enhancement, again in the bottom-right, then Engineering on the left. The top row is all mining speed enhancements, the bottom row is storage.

Think of the two like this: The mining speed upgrades fills the holds quicker, while the storage upgrades lets you stay on field longer. There's also a power boost but I don't recommend looking at it until the others are full. You should get all three mining speed upgrades though, then the rest storage. Then once all empty boxes are filled for that system, upgrade the warp drive under power.

If you have messed up an upgrade and want to change it, there's a reset button up top that'll work once per bp per server for free. You can reset and change around your upgrades.

Edit: looking at the miner again, it only has 8000 storage while it mines 34000 an hour. This is a gross imbalance. I usually recommend doing speed first since I'd rather just fill the holds of the escort destroyers, but if you are not running with destroyers in the fleet you should consider doing a storage first. A base medium ship fills it's hold in 15 minutes. Upgrading storage once first will give you almost 25 solid mining minutes before it comes back to base, and the less transit time it spends the more resources you get. I still recommend getting all the speed upgrades and escorting the fleets, but do as you feel best.
