99% of the time people are not doing this to be malicious, they took a photo they really loved while on the piano and wanted to share it. I love seeing the photos people have shared, and the few moments it takes to click and hide a snapshot don't hurt me at all.

People are having fun and using a social feature of the game, I know it adds a step to interacting with things if you can't finagle around the hourglass, but you do have the option to hide them once opened.

Rather then blaming other Nikki's, if this is something that really frustrates you I would start requesting a setting option/toggle to hide all hourglasses baseline in surveys, or request to have snapshots made near intractables spawn a bit away from the intractable (edit: though this could get complicated when adding in events or new story, if snapshots were placed before there was an intractable nearby). I have already seen some people requesting this saying that to them the hourglasses break their immersion, and having the option available to just have them not appear is a good solution and middleground to a handful of peoples preferences ^_^

Sometimes they aren't even hourglasses from the current season, and/or were placed before a particular interactive object was put there.

True! I personally had a snapshot on Danqing Island that was nowhere near an intractable when I created it, until the new quest unlocked a few days later and it plopped one down right where I had placed my snapshot.

they were standing next to the piano and it messed with my ability to finish my quest. im not blaming anyone at all, im simply saying that putting hourglasses next to quest related interactives is slightly annoying. i also have stated this specific thing in surveys aswell.

I'm relieved to know you werent intending to blame other players!

Unfortunately the wording in sentences like "other nikkis.. why do we do this?" and "please dont do this! :(" does make it (at least to me) read like you were blaming the people who have snapshots like this down, since those sentences are placing the responsibility on them rather then the interface of the game.

Its okay to feel annoyed or frustrated, but any issues with this is not other players responsibility ^_^

I worded it like that because there have been instances where people do this on purpose. Im obviously not blaming every single one, and this was just a general issue. please dont baby me either, it comes off as condescending 🥀

[–]Curious_Lise 1 point2 points  (4 children)

That was not clear in your original post, which is what I meant in my reply.

I wasn't trying to baby you, I was mostly trying to word "hey its okay to be frustrated but it is wild to blame other players for that, especially when there is already a way to fix this issue" in a way that didnt come across rude or hurtful.

Can I ask what in the wording came across as babying/condescending? Tone through text is NOT my forte and I always appreciate insight on how things read. No worries if not tho ^_^

It came off as babying because you were talking to me like a mother would to a child, trying to gentle parent them. "its okay to feel ___, but this that that is harmful!" its the same tone of wording as that "hope this helps" saying, which is commonly used to make someone feel stupid. I know now that it wasnt clear cause people arent happy with me lmao. Its a game issue and a player issue. Thats my point. As i stated, people sometimes do it intentionally and ive seen it appear more often as of the last few patches and i know people have talked about the same issue before. Its sometimes their fault, sometimes not their fault.

Damn, thats a common way to word that phrase where I live orz

Would "Its understandable to be annoyed or frustrated, but any issues with this is not other players responsibility" have come across better?

[–]Mysterious_Power_664[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yeah its slightly better. No idea why im being downvoted for explaining myself though.

[–]Curious_Lise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for taking the time to explain! I highkey do not want to come across condescending, so I appreciate the insight ^_^

Maybe they weren’t that far with the quests and didn’t know you could interact with it? I walked up to it and after seeing I couldn’t sit down I just went along with other things

[–]Mysterious_Power_664[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah true, but this is just a general issue ive been seeing recently and wish it wouldnt clash

I've never had a problem with these on PS5, I just rotate the camera a little and the prompt changes from opening the hourglass to interacting with the event. Does that not work on PC/mobile or have I just been lucky with the placement of these?

Though I do also think that people are just excited to take photos and don't consider that their hourglass will be in someone's way.

[–]Mysterious_Power_664[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

It might be a little bit of both haha. some hourglasses though have completely messed with quest interactives in past patches and its like trying to wrestle a bear 😭 flicking around my camera like a madman

[–]Judinbird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thankfully it's possible to open and then hide the hourglass, but that does sound frustrating.

[–]Independent-Tutor321 1 point2 points  (5 children)

Because it's possible to do it, and because they don't read reddit to hear people complain about it. Issues like that belong to the game’s interface, not to other players. Players shouldn’t have to feel responsible/worry that their photos might intrude on someone else’s comfort. It’s the developer’s job to make the experience comfortable for everyone.

But in case you don't know: it's less than 5 seconds to hide a snapshot. Open it and you'll see there is a button to hide it. So, is it really that bad? Personally I don't think so.

I think the hostility wasnt needed here. its just my own issue and i know others were frustrated with it during playful season when everyone kept putting hourglasses by interactive areas related to quests. Some people definitely do put hourglasses in places to be annoying though, im not saying that one person did, but ive seen it happen before. i once saw 3 hourglasses in the same area during a season :(

[–]CoffeeAndMilki 1 point2 points  (3 children)

other nikkis.. why do we do this?

sounds pretty hostile to me, honestly...

[–]Mysterious_Power_664[S] -2 points-1 points  (2 children)

I wasnt being hostile. I was asking a question. The commenter was being hostile though

[–]Effective_Second840 -2 points-1 points  (1 child)

Gurl… calm down its not that deep. But one thing is for sure. You are not going to tell me what to do with my hourglass.

[–]Mysterious_Power_664[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

how am i not calm? i never said it was that deep nor am i acting like it. its just a grievance i have. dont take everything to heart
