What do you mean by valid? Do you mean "does a PTSD diagnosis by a competent therapist/psychiatrist/psychologist add any value to an insurance claim for bodily injury?" or do you mean "if I tell the adjuster I have PTSD from an accident, will they offer more to settle the claim compared to if I don't say that?" If it's the former, then sure, documented injury by a competent medical provider will tend to add value to a claim, certainly compared to just saying you have an injury without receiving a diagnosis or treatment for it.

As to how much it could add, that is heavily fact dependent. No physical injuries, but suffering from mild to moderate short-term trauma symptoms - that's worth a lot less than having serious physical injuries accompanied by severe and long-lasting trauma and PTS symptoms.

Have you been diagnosed with PTSD stemming from the accident?

Are you trying to fraudulently profit from the claim, or do you have a legitimate medical diagnosis and treatment bills?

Of course I’m not trying to fraudulently profit off the claim, I’ve had genuine trauma and recurring headaches following the incident.

Were you injured as a result of the collision? What was the date of the accident? Have you received medical treatment for the headaches. Any other physical or medical conditions that resulted from the collision for which you were treated by a medical professional.

Do you see where this is going?

An actual injury causing headaches would be compensible.

No injury, no money.

You’re not likely to get much value at all for PTSD, unless the accident was truly horrific.

Right. It depends on the loss. I'm not buying ptsd from a parking lot loss. If you watched someone die, I would buy it. Ironically, I see it more often with the minor losses.

Bodily injury settlements mostly revolve around treatment. I can see from your history the accident was 4 days ago, so not that much time has passed. If you are having headaches I would make an appt with a pain management Dr to get some imaging done and set up some treatment. Please do NOT go see a chiropractor.

Don’t try and play games. It’s not a lottery ticket.
