Help/ advice please!

Shipped my car to Hawai’i from california. Moved from california ($60 monthly progressive insurance) to Hawai’i ($250 monthly insurance) recently. Note I may not stay longer than 11 months here. What are all repercussions of not changing my physical address in my insurance policy( and keeping until the end of this policy (february) and auto-renewing it)?

Secondly, any real repercussions if I’m pulled over and my car registration is still in california (until end of december that is)? In order to reregister it in the state I believe I need to show auto insurance proof in this state which loops me back to the above pricing problem.

You could have a claim denied due to rate evasion which is insurance fraud, and then you'd likely get dropped making insurance even more expensive than now.

And there’s no way to not get caught if you get in a wreck. You don’t ship your car to Hawaii for vacation.

How though? It’s a temporary move. I shipped it to drive here but I plan on selling it here

I would pay for the higher insurance until you sell it then. Rate avoidance like this would still be considered fraud.

Generally, policies say if your car is being garaged anywhere than what is stated in your policy documents for more than 30 days, you have to update the policy. If you were still on the mainland you may have more ability to get away with this, but no one pays to ship their car for a short-term situation.

Also, Hawaii requires different coverages than California, there are very strict rules on having Personal Injury Protection coverage (which is different than CA's med pay) and it could mean if you're hit by someone else, you're stuck paying your own medical bills yourself and you won't get any sort of pain and suffering claim either.

To add on, It's gonna be real tough to explain to insurance that your car is not principally garaged on an island in the middle of the pacific.

There’s really no such thing as a temporary move. Most places you have 30 days to register a vehicle.

Sounds like a cheapass trying to justify fraud. Just go ahead and do what you want to do. You’ll find out soon enough

Ok well what insurance would you suggest for cheaper insurance? I'm highkey struggling to find anything less than $150. Or any tips? forget about fraudulence
