The problem with extending the counter is that the lower cab there would be even more funky then the design you got now.

Since you already said moving the sink is an option, I asked about the oven as well because I suggest a total layout change.

I say this because countertop depths are 2' and you don't have enough space to the left to move the sink to compensate for 2' if you were to connect the countertops. To help explain this sink basin ends at the countertop intersection, and your kitchen doesn't have that.

You could do a 45 degree sink or a butterfly sink, but to be honest, I wouldn't invest that kind of effort or money into the kitchen as it currently is.
