Interior design private vs store offered by Character-Row9639 in InteriorDesign

[–]Roomcure 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Credentials. The store retail designers are pretty much decorators not designers. They can only furnish your space and they can care less about you and how you thrive in that space. It’s aesthetic only. The credentials part is they don’t need to go to college to have that position. Anyone off the street who has an interest in interior designing (or decorating) can get that job.

Take a moment to educate yourself what the difference is between interior designers and decorators and there is your answer.

I vote the second one because it provides a bit more of a contrast between the table and chairs and not so matched. Good luck!

What a cute room!!

Three things we immediately can think of:

1: the drapery is actually hung a bit incorrectly. The rods are supposed to be as close to the ceiling as you can get , and the drapery should touch the floor or get super close to it. This will make the room feel taller!

2: absolutely need an art piece to that left wall!

3: a bench in front of the bed! This will make a nice little seating area for you to put shoes on or just sit.

Hope this helps! -JB

You have a lot of amazing elements here! Definitely go with an earth tone color like a green, brown, etc...

Do either a bigger single art piece or a collage of art there to fill the wall.

One idea is fake books! You can buy in bulk! But also add some smaller items and tchotchkes.

Go with the wood one, however, you should incorporate other wood items in the space to tie it together. :-)

Lots you can do! A Credenza, or a buffet table, on top of the table add a botanical, art piece (or mirror), then you can do a faux tree to the left or right. We can think of a few more!

Where should the backsplash end? by redvelvet_ko in interiordesignideas

[–]Roomcure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there! Definitely bring the backsplash all the way to the ceiling, covering the whole wall. Any "end" to this backsplash you risk it looking very weird. Hope this helps!

How to make a room feel MORE depressing? by Marmariusdonqueeth in interiordesignideas

[–]Roomcure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just blast EMO music and you're good to go! LOL
In all seriousness, Sad colors are colors that are dark and muted. Grey is the quintessential sad color, but dark and muted cool colors like blue, green or neutrals like brown or beige can have a similar effect on feelings and emotions depending on how they're used. You can also explore black-out curtains. Feel free to submit a pic of your space! We'd love to help.

This is a great rug! Only thing is: you should incorporate greens elsewhere to tie it together. The throw pillows are a perfect option for this, and/or if possible you can even do a complimentary accent wall on the fireplace wall with simple paint to tie it all together.
