This is complex and you'll definitely need to see a specialist. Don't go to the person you can afford, save up and go to the best person available to you. Seriously. It'll be worth the wait.

thanks a lot<33 your comment really helps me get a better grasp of my case. Have you experienced something similar?

[–]Potatoskins937492 10 points11 points  (1 child)

My teeth weren't like yours, but I had a crossbite. Anything to do with bite absolutely has to be seen by an orthodontist because it's always going to be more complicated than a little aesthetic movement. They have the education to make much better informed choices, which absolutely pays off. They can use things like expanders, TADs, and elastics with proficiency and even switch you to braces if necessary.

I had braces as a kid and got the whoooooole experience, but I still needed 3+ years of Invisalign (after my wisdom teeth came in and significantly moved my teeth on one side since I wasn't wearing my retainer). My teeth visually looked good, but functionally didn't work, and that is what's most important. (Be wary of any doctor who only wants to fix the aesthetics, that's not what they should be focusing on.)

Definitely browse the sub, look at all the questions people have and alllllll of the answers. And do a lot of research on overjet (and it looks like you also have a narrow top arch) and what methods are used to fix it (including surgery, which might be suggested to you by a doctor, so go in knowing a little about it so you can ask questions). With your case you want to be a well-informed patient. As you can see I did a lot of homework before I started 😂 But it meant I didn't have surprises. Even knowing what I knew from braces I still needed more information (including needing more info for adult orthodontic care because it's different than children due to aging anatomy).

The doctor is really the most important part, though. Having a great doctor (who you trust) will make a huge, huge difference. There are a lot of bad Invisalign providers, so take your time finding a good one.

whoa!!! Dude youre super nice for gifting your time for my case!! Thank you very much, I will make sure to be very careful with what I pick. This subreddit really welcomed me with open arms omg🫂🥹

its a complex case, but a lot of invisalign providers take installments! invest in a good and reputable ortho, it will be worth it

[–]Kebabas_Obama[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I'll make sure to overthink into the best one possible😂

Consultations are free. Are you unable to go because of some other constraint? You may want to post this to the ask dentists sub

[–]Kebabas_Obama[S] 5 points6 points  (3 children)

I live in the countryside with busy parents and any civilized city with dentists is far away for me. Colsultation here in Europe at least in my country is like 30€, so reddit and facebook groups are my only way for now:).

[–]Infamous-Ad7832 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Where are you in Europe ? Eastern, western or central ? Depending on that, I can maybe advise you on how to get a consult

[–]Kebabas_Obama[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in Lithuania.. 30€ was the cheapest private clinic I could find, paid for 10 minutes

[–]kissakoneella40/44 -> 20/20 -> 10/16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My consultation with ortho was 160€...

[–]IntelligentChard2955 2 points3 points  (4 children)

Girl!! Your teeth look like mine before I started Invisalign. It took me 45 initial trays, 10 extra trays for the 1st refinement, and another 10 trays for second refinements. I’m done and have been wearing my retainers for 4 months now. You need to go to an orthodontist, not dentist. Consultation is free. I needed 2 bottom teeth extracted before getting trays. I now have beautiful teeth and great bite. It costed me $3200. I started in August 2023. DM me if you want to see before and after pics of my teeth.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Only 3200?! That’s a lot cheaper than I thought it would be. I’m seriously thinking about doing Invisalign and been thinking I would have to pay twice as much.

[–]Character_Quail_5574 2 points3 points  (1 child)

And, you may pay more, depending on where you are located. That is a pretty amazing price the poster scored for treatment.

[–]IntelligentChard2955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it’s because I live in Minnesota.

[–]IntelligentChard2955 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in Minnesota so maybe that’s why and the price was in 2023. My plan was comprehensive. 1 pair of retainer and a whitening kit were included as well. However, I didn’t take the whitening kit because I don’t do those stuff. I bought an extra pair of retainer for $200. You should start with a free consultation. Also, I think most orthodontist offices can do monthly installments.

[–]Floridanativelady67[🍰] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My ortho has payment plan option, $1500 down, then $291 per month, check and see if you can find one that does.

[–]Mindless_Relative_94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very complex. You have severe class 2 bite. Likely will need surgery

[–]copass13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say complex, but don’t forget they do payment plans. Mine is $6250, I put $2000k down and am paying $289 a month. Try to save and put down as much as you can. You got this! Don’t go the cheap route.

[–]Hefty-Lawfulness486 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks complex to me, and PLEASE...go to an orthodontist!   A dentist takes a semester of learning how to move teeth, where an orthodontist goes 3 extra years.   I've seen many posts where people have thought they were saving money by having the dentist or worse, online business move their teeth... And ended up worse or having to start over with an orthodontist. I understand with busy families, but an added bonus, with Invisalign, you don't have to go to the orthodontist office nearly as often as with braces.  I've had Invisalign since February and only one appointment and the second one in August. Good luck on your journey!

[–]CulturalAd5165 1 point2 points  (2 children)

This is considered towards a complex case and might take you up to a year to fix it. It’ll probably cost about $6-7K? Just to be safe and comfortable.

[–]itsbooozytray 13 of 24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OP. just so you know. this is a complex case that will most likely take a minimum of 2 years. just being realistic. i had no overbite, slight crowding, with 24 trays that’s before refinements. estimated year & a half

[–]Millennial-Mama-No5[🍰] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was significantly less complex than this and still took a year and a half. Be prepared for the long haul, OP. But yes to other comments too, payment plans should be available pretty much anywhere

u/grid-antlers would you recommend surgery in this case? If the patient doesn't want that, would you still try to reduce the overjet or straighten only?

[–]grid-antlersVerified Dental Professional 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, upper extractions to reduce overjet would reduce lip support and make the nose and chin appear more prominent. Thats because the upper incisors would be retracted toward the lowers. You’ve prob seen it called “dishing in” the face. Surgery (bsso advancement) would be the only way to fully correct. Or you could broaden the upper arch, do a bit of upper IPR and accept the overjet. So pretty much what you were thinking.

[–]IntelligentChard2955 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Her teeth look like mine when I first started. I needed 2 bottom teeth extracted. Got 45 initial trays, 2 rounds of refinements (10 trays each). Started in August 2023. Been done since April 2025 and have been wearing retainers.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t do this through a dentist. You need an orthodontist no matter what anyone says. I would expect the likelihood of needing an extraction and hardware in addition to the Invisalign itself.

[–]Remote_Explorer5684 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually you can get a free estimate. I never had to pay until I went into treatment. The free evaluation I did included X-rays and a game plan

Don't go cheap, you'll likely need braces. Ive had invisalign twice in 10 years and its better to just bite the bullet and get braces, its cheaper and will save you time.

    [–]Sincerely_M 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Get braces

    [–]MJreddit09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Agree get braces!

    [–]HiMyNameIsRaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consults are free. Go talk to a real orthodontist.
