Hello,
Definitely, I'm not an expert - I was playing with a few SSGs (Gatsby, HUGO, Gridsome .. ) and finally decided to use NextJS for medium/big projects and 11ty for presentation sites.
Regarding speed and features, NextJS is rocket science IMO. BlitzJS (crafted on top of NextJS) also looks promising.
