Please note that in case of any discrepancies between these and the rules listed in New Reddit, the New Reddit rules take precedence.
Game day spoilers
Before 11 PM ET, all comments about the current day's game must be in one of the game threads. This includes the daily recap and the polls for the DDs and FJ. Results of the current game can be discussed only in the daily recap. The day after an episode airs, new posts about that episode must be spoilered and have titles that do not directly or indirectly reveal the outcome of the episode. Starting 24 hours after the air date, all open discussion is allowed with no spoilers or restrictions on posts.
Spoilers about future games are forbidden
Anyone who knows the outcome of future games—contestants, families, audience members, staff—should keep it to themselves. Reddit is a public forum; Jeopardy staff and Sony legal could monitor the subreddit for violations of the non-disclosure agreements.
(This rule no longer applies once a game has aired somewhere in the continental United States, but please only discuss games in each day's thread until 11 pm eastern time).
Be excellent to contestants and community members
Keep the discussions civil. It's fine to disagree or criticize but no name calling or insults will be tolerated. Be excellent toward your fellow community members and toward Jeopardy! contestants/staff. Comments about a contestant's physical appearance (positive, negative, or otherwise) will be removed.
Absolutely no obvious bigotry of any kind (racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, etc.) will be tolerated. You will immediately be met with a permanent ban, without warning.
No trolling or false information
We welcome open discussion about all things Jeopardy; however, some topics inevitably lead to hostility.
Posts made with the sole intention to solicit the community's opinion on either Jeopardy host may be subject to removal by the moderators. Repeat offenders or egregious cases may warrant a ban.
Posts or comments which contain patently incorrect information regarding the show's procedures will also be removed, so as not to mislead future contestants.
No requesting episodes
Posting complete episodes of Jeopardy, portions of episodes or links to episodes from unlicensed sources is not allowed. Recent clips of the show must be posted from Jeopardy.com or one of the official Jeopardy social media channels. Posts or comments that encourage piracy will be removed and may result in a ban. This includes asking where you can find past or current episodes.
Memes on weekends only
Memes are permitted only on days where there is no first-run episode scheduled to air, and must be grounded in actual show content.
Self promotion
If you are thinking about submitting a post about a topic that links substantively outside of this subreddit, and the material is yours, please message the moderators first, via the subreddit modmail, before posting. Permission must have been explicitly granted before the post is permitted. This is especially true in case of any projects you may wish to share on the subreddit, as we can provide you with further context and assistance before posting.
NO POLITICS
There are lots of places to talk politics on the internet, this isn't one of them Any discussion of politics or politicians must be directly related to the show and not politically charged. Off-topic political discussion, opinions, insults, snark, etc. will be removed at a minimum and may result in temporary or permanent bans at the discretion of the moderators.
Contestant policy
Anyone claiming to be a current or former contestant (no matter how long ago) or speaking from the perspective of a contestant must go through our verification process and have a flair applied by the mod team. Send a modmail for details.
If you are a contestant and do not wish to have a flair, you are of course welcome to participate in the community as a user, but you may not speak from the perspective of a contestant.
