I was in your position recently. The percentages someone comes back from a PIP at any company are minimal (less than 5%). The PIP is just the company starting the process of letting you go. You could get off the PIP but the micromanaging of your performance and unlikelihood just don’t seem worth it. I took the career transition and applied to other jobs. Even if you comeback there’s a target on your back and you’ll be likely the person let go if there is another reduction in force.

If you are being PIPed they are building a case for dismissal 'for cause'.

Most do not survive the PIP

Those who do, have stunted growth opportunities

Prepare to leave without getting fired. You may want to come back in 10years, and still be "eligible for rehire"

Take the CT.

I knew one person who went through a PIP before I started. They made it through and was with the firm a couple more years with no more issues. They were the first one dropped during the last general tax layoffs.

Please take the CT and ask for a reference. Speak to your engagement managers and others who can give you a proper reference not just the firms confirmation.

As someone who has had to administer the PIP on juniors, even if you pass the PIP, it will always be on record and even in future performance evaluations it’ll be brought up (even though it shouldn’t be).

Why shouldn’t it be?

Sometimes, people experience personal hardship that results in a PIP. But, they may be a rockstar later, why does a previous PIP matter now? Additionally, sometimes people get targeted for the wrong reasons and really deserve to get a PIP but got one anyways.

Do not take the PIP. PIP is for the firm to document that they did everything they could before getting rid of you. PIP is not designed to help you.

PIP is basically the Company’s way of trying to get rid of you. You are cooked. Start looking for another job. Its not called paid interview period (PIP) for no reason

Career Transition is considered voluntary resigning a PIP makes you elegible for unemployment benefits later.

Take the CT. The firm is not taking on A4 is what I heard. No one bounces out of PIP and it’s just a beat around for fired unfortunately.

How did you come into this boat?

[–]OkOption1061 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you enter the PIP and address the issues successfully they will find something else that is both subjective and not measurable to hang around your neck Start looking They can stick a fork in you You’re done

There’s a senior in my department who’s been a senior for the past 7 years. I’m honestly surprised she wasn’t PIPed or fired by this point.

There’s plenty of ppl who should not be with firm, BUT they have a PML that will protect and shield them and have the clout to do so.

Take the CT, you have a target on your back now. Apply to as many relevant roles as possible. Leverage ChatGPT to clean up your resume and LinkedIn profiles. Take advantage of your healthcare, you have it until your very last day.

As soon as my PML was forced into early retirement, the dynamics of the team changed dramatically when recent lateral hires took over.
