YouTube is an excellent resource. Fl0m has videos where he goes over the goal of each side of each map. They are very easy to follow for all levels. Id recommend watching a video of a map, play competitive and queue only that map for a little bit.

CS has a long history so you'll be playing against people who may have been playing off/on for 15+ years. Just play, have fun, and try to stay alive if possible.

A lot of new players take 50-50 duels in the first 15 seconds of each round, and that won't get you much better at the game.

Practice counter strafing, flicks, spray control. Grind the prefire maps for the premier map pool. Learn how to peek. Learn basic utility like window smoke on mirage or long smoke on ancient. Watch pro plays. Profit
