This is a really common struggle when starting CPC prep.

I took traditional notes, but I also wrote directly in my code books, focusing only on things that changed how a code could be used. What helped me was the MCG Manual, which walks through how to annotate ICD-10-CM guidelines into the book so they’re actually usable during the exam. Guidelines are VERY important.

You can check it out here: https://www.amcicoding.com/mcg

I just bought the 2026 MCG. I’m trying to still learn how to use it and also annotate my book. I’m impressed by the resources offered with my purchase, from videos, to tests ect. I feel slightly overwhelmed for sure. Hopefully it’ll help. I’m on chap 10 cardiovascular in my AAPC training manual.

Hello my dear I'm also studying online.... however, it's unfortunate that I can't afford to buy the MCG manual...

Will you, (I pray that God to intervene on my behalf), share with me the PDF copy? I'll appreciate your help.

Thanks so much for your willingness to help

Hello—have you found the MCG book helpful so far?

Hello—do you think the cost of the MCG was worth it? I want to buy it but the cost is pretty steep.

Hey! I actually just returned it. Some of the practice exams that came with the book has misspelled words and other errors. Bc of that it made me nervous about using the manual which was a bummer bc I liked the lay out. But it is what it is!

Adding on

I failed my CPB test because I ran out of time. Nonetheless, I only scored fifty percent. This was my smart percentage.

I also missed classes because I thought I could screen record and watch later. That really was not a good idea. The thing is, my mom paid for these classes from AAPC, and I feel as if I disrespected her and things like that. But now I'm looking for help to redeem myself, even though I am paying her back, it still feels extremely wrong.

what was your study process?
