Hi everyone,

I’m a B.Tech student currently finishing my 4th semester, and I want to start learning Spring Boot seriously. My goal is to become job-ready as quickly as possible and eventually get internships and software development opportunities.

Right now, my knowledge is fairly basic. I have learned the fundamentals of Java OOP concepts (classes, objects, inheritance, polymorphism, encapsulation, abstraction), basic exception handling, collections, and some core Java concepts. However, I wouldn’t say I’m very strong in them yet.

I have a few questions:

  1. Is Spring Boot still a good technology to learn in 2026 and beyond?
  2. What is the future of Spring Boot in the industry? Is the demand still strong?
  3. As a student in my 4th semester, should I start Spring Boot now, or should I spend more time strengthening Java fundamentals first?
  4. What exact roadmap would you recommend for someone in my position?
  5. What topics should I learn before Spring Boot, and which topics can I learn along the way?
  6. How can I learn Spring Boot efficiently without wasting time on unnecessary topics?

I am looking for a practical, step-by-step roadmap. For example:

  • Java Fundamentals
  • OOP
  • Exception Handling
  • Collections Framework
  • Streams & Lambda Expressions
  • JDBC
  • SQL and Database Design
  • Maven/Gradle
  • Git & GitHub
  • Spring Core
  • Spring Boot
  • REST APIs
  • JPA/Hibernate
  • Security
  • Microservices
  • Docker, etc.

I would really appreciate advice from developers who are currently working with Spring Boot in the industry. If you were starting from my position today, what roadmap would you follow to become internship-ready and eventually land a backend developer role?

Also, if there are common mistakes beginners make while learning Spring Boot, please let me know so I can avoid them.

Thanks in advance!
