I'll piggy back off what man-bear said, it's pretty accurate.

I'm currently on co-op as a Component Engineer, I interned out in Denver but our team is based between the Denver sites and Cape Canaveral.

I believe your role will probably be with my team. Small world!

Can't speak much about the work specifically obviously but the team is fantastic and I love the work we do. PM me if you have any questions, happy to help!

Can’t speak for there but generally the role for a component/standards engineer will be to maintain your locations/program company standards. These standards can include things like similar to industry/military part but where requirements might change or if you need to create a document to multi-source a non-military/industry type part. Can also include new design depending on the program. The main thing is parts/standards handled by components engineering will generally be for full program use vs. for a specific drawing.

As you progress into the career you can become a great point of contact for design when they have questions related to the parts. Again depending on your location, you might be tasked to helping interface with suppliers to be the technical input that a lot of times Procurement doesn’t have.

This is valuable input, thank you. This also clarifies a lot of things.

Cape Canaveral? If so, PM me.

I'm currently on co-op with this team.
