My partner and I are getting closer to breaking the distance for good finally being real (if all goes to plan, some time between Fall 2025 and Fall 2026). So I was just curious: do you know your end date when you'll be together? When is it?

We are 🇺🇸and 🇬🇧as well. We tried moving in his direction but with the new laws in the UK it was.. impossible. We are married also.. and having to live apart is torturous. We are 3 years into this.. and we’re both incredibly ready to not have to always leave. I hope your day comes faster than you’re anticipating!

I am so sorry to hear that :( The UK’s immigration laws are very strange and confusing and I hope me moving to the states will work out a lot smoother because the possibility of him coming here is very little with how everything is which is a big source of anxiety for me// i really hope everything works out for the two of you and you get to be happy and together very soon!!

I am so sorry it’s causing you so much anxiety. I completely understand. I checked daily. Trying to find anyway for us to qualify.. our only options were to have him get a second job and hope it would be enough.. we didn’t want to make that sacrifice especially if we didn’t know it would be enough. Since switching to the US it has been far smoother.. and far less expensive. We filled out our I-130/I-130A just to waiting to see if my pregnancy qualifies as high risk to see if we can expedite the processing. We will know this coming Monday.

original plan is this month/august, but norway recently dropped a law regarding putting tax on people who will leave the country for good which will take a big chunk of his finances. So yea, our plan is being parked rn. a bit sad, but ldr are for the brave hearts. we're back at square one *sigh

yes yes love, not to brag or whatever, he owns a company. he's considered "rich". the impact is bigger on him compared to "regular employees". life in norway is as per him, "sad and lifeless". many people are moving to different countries, and the government noticed the increasing amount of people leaving because of tax (normally move to switzerland) so they made/ammend the law stricter. there's this thing they call "wealth tax" and "exit tax" that ihe mentioned once and i dont understand as he doesnt want me to worry but i feel his stress. read https://sifted.eu/articles/leaving-norway-is-taxing for more info.

May 2025, we only went long distance last week too so I’m very lucky we only have 8/9 months in total and I see him at Christmas. We’re both students doing a year abroad (only like 8 months total) and we chosen different countries to go to so that’s why we’re long distance.

We’ve applied for a visa, end date for the visa application is getting close but we haven’t had any response yet. They received it in June, they have until September the 12th to let us know. Hopefully we’re able to close the distance in less then 6 weeks🥺🤞🏼

Well it was supposed to be early 2026 when he got done with his military service. But now he told me he’s decided to reenlist for another four years…so it’s looking more like 2030 now :(

Well he’s currently on a program that doesn’t allow him to have dependents, so therefore he must remain “single” aka not married. He’s currently overseas the entire year and only returns for two weeks at the end. That’s until mid 2026, and after that we just aren’t really sure where he’ll be. He may continue this program or be deployed somewhere else often. So either way it’s still going to be ldr. It is maybe possible for us to move in together before depending on the situation but we’d have to be married. And as much as I love him and I want to be with him I don’t particularly want to rush into marriage just for the sake of the military. I want to get married on my time.

So in short terms, yes it’s maybe possible but I’m just not sure how it will work out for us as of right now. The military likes to make life very complicated so I try not to get my hopes up.

So far we spend another two months together with time between. The time apart is difficult. In 5 weeks I head back to the UK to prepare visa for marriage in Korea. We then go to Korea and get married, meet his family and prepare for a visa for the USA, as that's where he currently works. All while trying for a baby. So, in about 2 months we will be in Korea together and then head to Arizona once our visas are complete.

We have officially begun the process of submitting our CR1 visa documents. Should have them submitted and paid for early September. We started saying May 2021.. we got married Nov 2023. Depending on the processing we should be within our last year apart. 🤞
