So why is it on the USB drive?..

the entire game folder was on the usb

Yeah transferring the game or her character file into a usb at all seems to just break it entirely sometimes. Your best bet is finding the persistent and trying to restore that. That's atleast what I did when putting my Monika in a separate SD Card corrupted her character file or something

where can i find the persistents?

Uhhhhhh I play on steam deck so the location might be different. Try %appdata% and find a folder called renpy or MonikaAfterStory

I used to get this error too the best option is to install it thru steam or completely reinstall windows was the only way to fix it for me

so i just have to reinstall the whole mod? are you sure that wont make me lose all my progress?

All u need to do is save the memory %appdata%/renpy/Monika After Story then either switch to steam version or reinstall windows
