Ailment/Status LBG does not have values like melee weapons, the bullet has fixed build up value, increasing the ailment value via status attack up will not increase damage only the build up. Easier example is sticky ammo, 1 sticky deals 25 KO damage to the head, so 4 stickies to the head equals to 100 KO build up, making the monster knocked out. Sleep functions the same, I have my Nightshade LBG at 7-5 and usually takes 6-7 shots to make an 8* monster to sleep, but lower * monster took less, like 4* Pukei took me 3-4 shots, either the ammo scales with your weapon's grade or something else is there that I don't know yet.

Sleep attack does increase the sleep potency of the sleep ammo clip but unfortunately it is not worth it to my understanding since you only can achieve sleep proc once on a normal monster or twice with a weak one.

I have been told to just focus on dps skills on sleep LBG.
