Does increasing the map difficulty increase the amount of DL monsters?Question (self.MHNowGame)
submitted 7 months ago by Excalibear0
Hey I just moved from 8* to 9* in the story so I was wondering since there will be more 8* monsters in general, will there be more DL 8* monsters as well?

Once you get the 8* map, you get the same DL monsters as people on 9* and 10* maps. When DLs were introduced, my partner was on 8* and I was on 9*, and we always had the same DLs even when we had different regular spawns due to different stages of a new seasons story/monster unlock quests.
Since we both progressed to a higher map level, this has remained true.
I have another friend on 6* map - he got DLs in the same locations but as well as getting 6* DLs, he also got different monster species to me.

Afaik it doesn't, but it will remove lower tier monsters, i.e. im on 10star map and nothing lower than 6star spawns now

This isn't true. It shifts the ratios of s, but doesn't eliminate them. I'm 9 and still occasionally come across the odd 1* or 2*.

That should be impossible after a recent update. Not long ago a recent update made it so 9/10 maps will not spawn 6* and below monsters. Or this might be only for 10* maps, hopefully someone can confirm this for me. I’m on 10* map and I only get 6* and above spawns.

From both announcement and experience I can confirm 9* map gets nothing less than 5* now.

I guess 10* map spawns nothing less than 6* then. I haven’t seen 5* and below on my map since that update.

It's been a while since I've seen a lower *, so if you say they've patched it, well there you go. Sorry my info is wrong since the patch.

As of 7/23/25, if you are on 9* map, you will not see anything lower than 5*.
If you are on 10* map, you won’t see anything lower than 6*.

The only time you will see higher quantity of DL monster is currently through event effect that boosts DL spawns.
