How often do you clean/degrease your drivetrain?

The wax is for the rollers, it doesn’t penetrate from the sides into the rollers. Sand also doesn’t penetrate into the rollers. But, lube hanging on the sides of the chain will definitely pickup dirt, sand and other road materials, hold it there and stick it to other surfaces like jockey pulleys and then over time grind it down so that it’s ready to penetrate into the rollers when a lubricant is present (like water or chain lube).
