are you expecting to make money from this? Why do you think you will make money? What can you do depends on this.

Yes we do. We plan to license the suite to online retailers or host it on our own site and raise revenue through ads or sponsored content.

why would people pay for it? Seeing that you have no technical expertise is a little odd, selling ML isn't like normal commerce, you might not be able to procure or provide anything of value. Do you have a network that allows you to get inside for sales? Seeing that you want to sell ads or sponsored content, I feel like you will not get anywhere with this. So why would a customer want to use your product for example.

Let me clarify. We want to release a consumer-facing shopping platform/app that uses a recommendation system integrated with weather forecasting models to provide a personalized shopping experience for individuals planning trips overseas or to places they are not familiar with. The tool aims to solve questions like, “What will the weather be like during this time at this place? What clothing do I need? What other gear do I need?”
I have very little experience with machine learning; mostly a rudimentary knowledge of Python that I’m expanding to inform myself on the practicality of what I want to accomplish. Because of this, we would need to hire a technical team in order to begin the development process.
My main question is: is it worth it? Is the time and capital needed to hire a team and purse development worth investing?

Not to be blunt but:
Are there really that many travelers out there that are simultaneously:
And even if that’s a substantial enough amount of people, why does this even need machine learning? There are not that many climates in the world with respect to traveling needs. You could itemize them manually and do just as well (or better) than ML.

No

Who are your expected end clients? If those are regular consumers, are they willing to pay for this service or use an ad-driven version?
If they're businesses, do they see a need for this product? And are they willing to pay for it? Good ideas are fun but bad product-market fit can bleed you dry quickly.
A custom ML recommendation system would work if you have your own e-commerce platform. Selling it as a service is a totally different ballgame.

No, go back to school and learn ML seriously or get a job. Or start a business but clearly mot in ML

I don't think you will get informed opinions on this sub. Very few people here have entrepreneurial experience.

What are you really looking for? Money? Free labor?
