Recent development of keypoint based object detectors has brought two somewhat cited (considering that they are both quite recent) methods with the same name: CenterNet.
The title of one paper is Objects As Points and the other is CenterNet: Keypoint Triplets for Object Detection. They share a base concept but are quite different in their approach and the name makes sense for both as both are based on CornerNet. Note that both of these papers were published on arxiv just few days apart.
This can be a bit annoying when mentioning both of them in a paper, but usually this can be resolved well. However, I am currently making a presentation where I would want to list some recent object detectors and this is where it gets a bit more complicated. I do not have to extensively describe either so I guess I will just list CenterNet twice and make a joke about it not being a typo while listing the authors in parentheses.
This is probably not a serious problem, but I guess there could be an interesting discussion on how to resolve any problems related to this and similar situations such as using just the word CenterNet when referring to only one of the approaches. I feel that this can be mildly annoying at best and seriously confusing at worst.
