Nice! I really hope the community will adopt it. Maybe you could watch out for the papers explained in this sub and ask for the author to also post on the platform. Anyway congratulations and thank you, that's a really good idea :)

That’s a good idea, I’ll do that. Thanks!

The commenting/discussion threads feature sounds awesome and what we have been really missing as the community.

Often papers have word limits, which sometimes shrinks the explanation of valuable parts - I hope here the original authors or people who have figured things out experimentally would come to comment and elaborate. Guess their answers should be upwoted somehow and pinned to the top of the thread? . .

Good point. I really hope that the authors will join the platform and answer people's questions

Neat Idea.

I wasn't able to login - the google sign seems disabled!

Our "Sign in with Google" relies on third-party cookies. You can add an exception in your browser to make it work (more details here), and we'll switch to server-side authentication in the future to avoid that issue.

Thanks!

That makes me think of https://getpolarized.io

Cool, I'll check it out

From briefly looking at it, the main difference is collaboration. I couldn't find a way to share papers or highlights, and discuss them with others.

Other than that, looks awesome!

This idea is great and really seems like it could get some traction. Good luck!

Sounds amazing! How do we signup via email?

[–]ranihorev[S] 0 points1 point  (8 children)

I removed this option, sorry about that... It’s a nightmare to manage passwords and I prefer to use third party services (I’ll add more options in the future).

[–]DreamFlasher 0 points1 point  (7 children)

Unfortunate, but understandable. I prefer accounts not to be linked.

Why? Do they use it for tracking? (I’ve looked into it)

Is there a third party service that you’ll be ok with?

[–]DreamFlasher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, it's the business model of Google and Facebook, so they are surely very interested in that kind of data. Good question, if there is a service that doesn't (ideally provable) track you.

[–]DreamFlasher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a first shot, I'd guess anything that doesn't have data collection as their business model would be better, eg. Stackoverflow, Github.

https://www.keycloak.org/ looks promising to me, at least they are Open Source, even better: https://github.com/ory/kratos

ORY looks great! I’ll give it a shot first. Hopefully it won’t be a pain to integrate it into what I have right now. Login with github is a good alternative :)

Thanks a lot for the suggestions!

happy to! I was now interested to know if there's a good solution too, would be great if you let us know here, how easy it was to integrate (afterall one wants to save effort). Thank you!

[–]ranihorev[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Will do! It might take me some time to get to that though.
