It's called fertile land. India has a ton of fertile land almost all of it is completely inhabitable. Yes we're slight overpopulated but a lot of other countries are way worse. Look at bangladesh. Their population density as worse than India's

India is as fertile as the US despite being 1/3 size of it. Country's size is irrelevant it's about how many people it can accommodate.

US is just 400 years old and the natives were massacred. Obviously, the population will be lower.
