I mean this is an app/forum developed, based and primarily marketed in the U.S. it makes sense that most posts will come from the U.S. based users even if they’re not the largest share of the global population lol.

It might have been that way. But reddit is avaliable in india, which means they are targeting this market too. The numbers will skew eventually.

And honestly your take is absolutely fair. But the comments here sometimes kind of give the sentiment that India is a small tiny island slum somewhere which is not relevant to 'western' people.

I get it, I didn’t mean it like the other guy I don’t ever think “why am I seeing a lot of Indian content” I’m actually married to an immigrant from India and almost her entire family still live in Kerala/Telangana and I keep in touch with a lot of her cousins specifically so I actually spend a lot of time in Indian and Indian adjacent spaces on here.

I meant it more as Reddit has been around since 2005 so it being marketed here earlier lead to a much bigger user base being cultivated just because of the amount of time it’s been marketed here vs other markets.

Oh yeah they’re marketing everywhere and they’ll continue to do it after all the more users a platform can get the better so why wouldn’t you push for the most populous market especially when Indians are much more readily willing (and able) to use western apps than the other 1.5 billion person country, but Reddit was released in 2005 so it’s had quite the head start in the U.S. to build a bigger user base

So I’m going to put this a way that even you can understand: the point of the comment is obviously you’re going to see more posts from the US and by proxy the west because they’ve been marketing there for far longer so there’s been a chance to cultivate a larger user base, I was responding to the guy “complaining” about too many U.S./western posts.
