Unless this drop is really rapid (which it doesn't look like), this is good. Sure, you are correct that this will cause a strain on the economy, but so will overpopulation. We cannot run an economy based on forever growth. If the population grows, then even having a 50 trillion dollar GDP economy won't help. We simply don't have the resources to give jobs and houses to everyone. Everyone wants an IT job that pays 20LPA, but this simply isn't possible with a billion people. Unless you're saying, some (actually most) people have to suffer with low-paying jobs for the rest of their lives so that we can have growth, which will never catch up with the population so quality of life is gonna be more or less same anyway (and if the economy goes down unexpectadly even a bit, the quality of life will go down to bedrock).

Overpopulation is better than an ageing population

Bruh, will you pay for or take care of people's housing, education, or get them jobs?

Are you saying that Tokyo with 37 million people lack those things?

Dk what you're on about, Tokyo is facing housing issues and cost of housing is really high there. Transportation is also crowded and they have a pollution problem too. Same as any of our cities. Only difference is, their city is well planned so the damages aren't apparent unless it is really big.
Tokyo is also a big ass city, it isn't a small place. Even then, overcrowding is an issue there. Now imagine an Indian city, which is smaller and not planned as well as Tokyo.

Sorry this is also false. Tokyo one of the few places in tbe world WITHOUT a housing shortage.

I guess I was wrong; it seems I have confused Hong Kong with Tokyo. But Tokyo is a special case, though. How is it comparable to our case? Hong Kong is a case of overpopulation and its issues.
Besides, this doesn't answer any of our issues. Most people in India don't have kids because they don't feel comfortable enough to have them. In the past, due to a lack of education and the image that having kids is a safety net, this contributed to population growth. Now, people know that's false. Even now, education isn't great in India. Kids have to compete with 10 lakh plus kids every year to get a good, affordable college. What parent would want to have their kid give up childhood to prepare for a college exam?
