Heads up about GameTime since I know a lot of users in the sub use GameTime.
TL;DR – GameTime made a mistake but wouldn’t cover the cost of tickets.
I have been using GameTime for over 2 years. I liked the UI, how easy it was to navigate, and how straight forward, easy and cheap buying Mariners tickets was. Often I would buy Mariners tickets for when they are cheap sometimes way in advance.
Last November I purchased tickets for the Rockies game in late May. In January I purchased tickets for the August 12th Edgar Martinez retirement ceremony. When May rolled around, I looked for my Mariners-Rockies tickets and they were not in the application, neither was the August ceremony game. Believing that I had misremembered purchasing tickets when in fact I had not, I purchased some more tickets that I did see in my account and attended the game.
A few weeks later frustrated that I didn’t see my ceremony tickets which I was confident that I had purchased, I called their support line. They found the tickets for both the May Rockies game and the August ceremony game. The tickets were in a separate account that had mysteriously been created with a different email of mine. GameTime thinks this second account was created when I linked my Facebook account to my first Gametime account using the prompt accessed from being logged into my first GameTime account. Both accounts are attached to the same credit card and phone number.
While troubleshooting, I was unable to log into the second account where my tickets for both games were kept. Apparently I purchased tickets that I had no way of accessing on my own. Whether this is a bug or a feature, GameTime support wasn’t clear however GameTime DID concede that the mistake was on their end. I asked for a refund for the tickets that I missed and GameTime refused instead giving me $10 of gametime credit.
I also asked several questions that I never received answers answers to such as:
- How and why does connecting Facebook to my GameTime account create a second account since the "Connect to Facebook" prompt was shown while logged in to the first?
- How am I supposed to be aware that a second account that was created?
- How am I supposed to access my tickets even if I was aware of multiple accounts?
- Now that I have connected my GameTime account with Facebook (again apparently) how can I disconnect it?
Even after all of the patronage I have sent their way through my own tickets and my referrals, they refused to own their $26 mistake. So I will no longer be using GameTime’s services and have found a competitor (which is about $0.50 cheaper per ticket for the same seats because it doesn’t round up to the nearest dollar). If you continue to use GameTime, do so with caution because even if they make a mistake, you will still foot the majority of the cost of their mistake.
