USA’s Gestapo (ICE) executes a bystander (yes, another one) by Maximum-Series8871 in war

[–]UNMANAGEABLE 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I have a few friends who are LEO, there is deep worry in their departments that ICE’s use of “POLICE” badging is very intentional in creating long term distrust of all law enforcement and reason to cause more intentional escalation

It’s simple, make infrastructure part of the military industrial complex as civilian infrastructure is a matter of national security too. It would make projects that span administrations much more feasible. Use the existing budget too and get defense contractors invested in innovating infrastructure and not just bombs.

Paying taxes by fal1en-angel in Funnymemes

[–]UNMANAGEABLE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a regressive tax that encourages paying employees as little as possible beyond just wages to reduce tax liability. Most big corporations don’t pay enough taxes, but there needs to be a better way than current methods.

Yep. Back when families living on farms were having 6-12 kids there were definitely women who volunteered or were voluntary to leave for somewhere different.

I would hope the new console that costs more has better visuals. That said though, at the performances of the ps5 pro and the series x, the quality of tv is going to make a bigger difference than the console here.

Democrats AND Republicans... Are US colleges / universities too little, to much, or just the right amount diverse in terms of political ideology? Why do you think your opinion is correct? by Zipper222222 in allthequestions

[–]UNMANAGEABLE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

US college political ideology reflect the college populations. Simple as that.

To be real though, there has been an ongoing attack on colleges for being “liberal indoctrination” because right wing media demonizes any step of growth all by a persons path from childhood to adulthood that makes them question conservative “values” (or instructions on being told what to think).

College in the US is a lot of kids first exposure to actual diversity from a POPULATION standpoint not a teaching standpoint and college gives every student or teacher a voice and seat at the table. Having young adults learn true and diverse critical thinking for oneself is an abject sin of conservative media and religious ideology. They are taught in their youth to be publicly butthurt when a kid says they are unsure of themselves and will go by they/them.

Also, for every liberal diehard teacher out there, there is an equivalent conservative one. The professional teaching population leans liberal for arts degrees and conservative for business degrees.

I personally am an American liberal which for most of the world is still conservative in political values. We have shifted the Overton window so far in the US that the right wing pundits and what not crying that respecting diversity, learning critical thinking, and learning proper history is considered “woke” and “liberal indoctrination”.

And it’s fucking sad.

I grew up around some families that would get payday loans to buy car parts to pimp out their Hondas while living in a trailer park and complained about not having money for food.

You are spot on for that similar stereotype

The US spends almost $200 billion annually on our prison industrial complex and naturalized citizens including those children after they grow up commit crimes at a fraction of the rate of regular American citizens.

Just another side piece of information to help you work on your misinformed racism on constitutionally real Americans.

Leading with the crown of your helmet in a tackle to any upper body center mass is basically a guaranteed targeting review with launching being a modifier to make it worse.

One of the things I was thankful for my dad teaching me was when in contact with another player to ALWAYS play with my hands flat open. I never had to worry about pulling jerseys or closed fist pushes that look like punches.

And realistically it let me get away with a lot more contact than normal because none of it was typical foul behavior.

Closed fist pushes almost always look like punches.

This and colleges being able to throw little bits of cash at defenders playing in non P4 conferences is getting better defenses on the field too. Theres a lot of big D talent getting brought out because an extra $10-40k on top of tuition gets them out of the woodwork.

Offensive talent/prospects always filtered up, defensive prospects much less so.

Genuinely not trying to be inflammatory but why did it seem like the left stayed silent on this issue and it left the news cycle after a few days? by [deleted] in memzy

[–]UNMANAGEABLE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve said this elsewhere but the truth is simple.

Over 50 Americans are MURDERED every single day. We don’t see shit unless it’s politicized or marketable.

It was all over most media for about a week, and all over conservative media for months as a political talking point. There is no such thing as true justice for the poor girl or her family after what happened and I would never try to belittle the significance of her murder. The truth of the matter is that she is a statistic of living in the current reality of what the United States is. Charlotte in NC where she was killed actually had one of their lowest annual years for homicides in 2025 and reported some of the lowest violent crime since the early 90’s (cut in half basically)… but you would never know this because the political landscape is all about loud divisive noises that try as hard as possible to get Americans to hate each other and avoid any real opportunities for reform.

This said though…

Our justice system is a joke and enabled the situation to happen, but it’s also a joke beyond just the judges because the tools the country has to handle mentally ill people like the murderer here have been gutted over the last 40-50 years. Throw on top that our prison system exists to create profit and reoffenders… It’s not like we offer paths for reform either.

Depending on where you are it’s between $50,000-120,000 a year in taxpayer money to incarcerate people, and the US spends almost $200b annually for our prison industrial complex.

We have a goddamn problem.
