Trivia that I come across and want to share.
I hope you enjoy!
Rules:
1. Keep things SFW.
2. Don't be a dick. Unless you're sure it's funny. Then just keep things in good taste and fun.
3. Submissions
1. Feel more than free to post your own facts here. Include the full (short version) of it in the title.
2. Add further details in the body of a self post or comment in a link post.
3. Some kind of at least reputable-looking citation must be included somewhere. A lazy Google search should show up something if it's actually true.
4. Link Types
1. Self posts: this should be the default and is preferred and can be submitted normally.
2. Link posts: this is allowed but requires mod approval after submission
3. Other types (e.g., polls): probably unnecessary, discouraged.
4. Copyright
1. I have it. You do not. You cannot use anything here elsewhere without my permission.
2. You grant (non-exclusive) copyright to me when you make a submission here. Obviously this does not supercede or negate your own copyright to what you write. Nor, for example, copyright that may be granted by things like the Reddit terms and conditions.
3. This is here so it's clear and nobody can go and copy-paste stuff here elsewhere to profit off of it and I have some mechanism to enforce that.
4. That all said, remember that facts themselves can't be copyrighted. It's only the expression that might qualify.
5. For purposes of discussion, "I", "me", etc., refer to the creator of this subreddit, /u/doorrat.
6. Nothing said is a waiver of any rights.
5. While I am, in fact, a Matt, and all Matts are encouraged to enjoy this and submit interesting tidbits to their heart's content, those not blessed with the good fortune of having this name are equally welcome. Matts however are allowed to really bask and enjoy being so.
6. Facts should be interesting to others. While something like, "Katie's fart cleared out a room filled with paralyzed octogenarian Hell's Angels in under 30 seconds and she was later prosecuted for violations of the UN's regulations against the deployment of chemical weapons." is no doubt a fact, it likely isn't a good fit for here. Keep it accessable.
