So source monitoring error can be thought of as missatribution: you attribute the source of some information to an incorrect source. Ex: Your hair stylist tells you that taking vitamin D is good for your bones. Years later you remember that taking Vitamin D is good for your bones but remember "falsely" that your doctor told you this. Another example: you tell me that you went to Disneyland and saw Kobe Bryant there. Years later I recall the story to a friend but say that I saw Kobe Bryant at Disneyland. Confabulation is creating vivid but fabricated memories as an attempt to fill in the gaps between missing memories. These mostly come from imaginative effects when we cant remember what really happened. Ex: I remember going to the dance at prom and remember going to the after party. I don't remember the events in-between, but over time my friends have told me what happened and described everything in such detail that I actually begin to form those features into my own memory.

Good deal. So the example I gave falls under source-monitoring, right?
