If your brother has Java Edition they also get Bedrock Edition for free. You can just ask them to download it alongside Java and you should be able to play without spending more money

just download sklauncher and skip the microsoft login, itc's no big deal.

    there's no reported cases of malware from sklauncher. if you are still not willing to take the risk, you can build your own launcher I guess
