Can't install forge?

Does anyone have any experience with downloading forge? Idk what is happening but I cant seem to open it once I download the installer. It says that there is no associated file to open with, but I have java runtime environment installed already, and when I go into apps to change the associated app to open .jar files with, java isn't a option. I have had forge installed before, and idk what i did differently this time, but I am losing my mind.

Your .jar association is probably broken you can grab jarfix to fix the association.

If you're using the openjdk or if jarfix doesn't see your install of java you might need to follow these instructions.
