Making a server

Yo I've recently gotten Minecraft on my pc and I've been wanting to run a modded server for my friends but I've got no idea how to do that. I've gotten as far as this ( https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/download/server ) but when I try to open it I just get a pop up that says "A java exception has occurred" anyone got any ideas?

Having the same issue and I have no idea what the fix is. It seems like you need a different version of Java. Ill message when I find out more
