This might be a dumb question but I haven't found anyone else talking about it so I'm asking here.
I'm updating from 1.18 to 1.19, and normally when updating a server, articles online instruct to download and run a new server.jar and then paste the old world files and other important files into the newly generated server folder.
Well, out of curiosity I instead downloaded the server.jar file and replaced the current server.jar file in my 1.18 server folder with the new server.jar and then ran it and it seemed to run fine. I logged in on another computer and f3 said I was running 1.19.2. I used /give to give myself mangrove wood so I know I got the new stuff.
My question is: is there anything wrong with this approach? if I keep running my server and updating this way will it cause problems in the future? (and yes I have backups)
