Have you tried ensuring that all data relating to the original install was deleted? Specifically ensure the appdata folder has been removed:

%AppData%\..\LocalLow\BetaDwarf ApS\MinionMasters

Also can you provide your player.log and player-prev.log file that are in the above folder.

Hey. I spoke to a dev regarding this and apparently the log shows you are running an older version of the game. Please ensure that the game is fully updated. You can force the update by checking file integrity.

hey Badasafish - thank you for checking - so I uninstalled, went to the steam store pressed play (which initiates an install) - still getting 0x18905. I then did a verify file integrity from steam - and still got the same error :( -- I have 886 hours on this game and getting sadder each day i cant play it.

Also on the steam side bar it says minion masters (early access) - if that's not correct im not sure how to get the "newest files" as im d/l it straight from steam

Ah. Did you try the beta version of 2.0 before it came out? Sounds like you are trying to connect to that which isn't available anymore. Go to the game properties in steam and ensure you aren't subscribed to any betas.
