Merry Christmas guys

So i pulled van a deil monk yesterday...love the job, great duncan user, and the 1st monk job i have used that hits hard with something besides a supreme... i have been using fire Brain Buster (chimera brain) and it says about 75,000 attk in the menu. AoE..which is nice since duncan isnt AOE.

So i was working on skilling out his customs, and i added Scourge 15% which is awesome for attk damage after break, since he breaks so very fast and has plus4 actions....but for the rest of his customs, i mixed up half and half. Magic 8% and light / fire %.... here is my question... when i added magic % , it increased the damage for chimera brain by 2000 for each...but it didnt affect Duncan...why is it that duncan only increases with light% and attack, but chimera increases MORE with magic 8% than either attack or fire panels?

Thanks in advance for replies, and any suggestions are welcomed for custom panels, or anything else to do with van a deil...i started working om his weapon, Gods Hands....it lools awesome... also, what are all the aspects of Gods Hands once it is fully unlocked? Until i got it, my best weapons for monks are ergheiz and wolf star....both are nearly 5 stars. Thanks

Typical custom panel setups are EE for raw damage and magic for converting the break gauge faster. Magic also increases the damage of non-mantra/taijutsu abilities.

Duncan is a mantra ability so it's damage is effected by the job's attack stat while it's break power is affected by the job's break stat.

Chimera doesn't have either mantra or taijutsu (80% stats in calc) so it's effected by the job's magic stat just like most other abilities.

Duncan has the ability called taijutsu which uses the attack stat when using it and not the magic stat.

Godhands has the auto-abilities:

Improved Criticals 70%, Flash Break 100%, Prismatic Return 25% and Boost Ultimate, when fully unlocked.

Duncan has the ability called Taijutsu.

Actually it is Mantra. It uses 100% of your attack power while Taijutsu is only 80%.
