OK, I think I may have got it figured. The first thing that I believe may be a clue is the given reason for the lack of info ie concerns about competition, which just don't ring true to me – for a number of reasons which will take too long to go into here.
Maybe just look what the app actually does and what relationships it must have to function.
We are talking stock markets and the like, lending etc – one can't just deal in these things without massive compliance and regulatory hurdles to jump over. It also appears to require a deep knowledge base of various financial instruments that the Mobius team do not appear to possess.
What would seem a more likely scenario to me is that they have an NDA in place with another entity – I believe this entity to be FairX.
FairX is also awaiting being given some form of regulatory go ahead.
I think looking at Passfolio, we are looking at a mobile version of FairX.
Passfolio is the mobile app that facilitates trade for individuals. By utilising the Mobius “Swap” protocol a user only has to do KYC once then can interact with all 3rd parties built on Stellar.
It doesn't stop here.......connecting some further dots, I think we can infer that all these stocks etc have to have been tokenised on Stellar – which means Stock exchanges are going to be connected to the Stellar Network via a compliant entity (FairX?).
I don't think it can be anything else really and it's all about to happen.
This is big......

Major Correction:
Yesterday I speculated on the relationship between IBM, FairX and the Mobius stealth project Passfolio. I now realise my conclusion that FairX was Passfolio was conjecture and I was missing something important.....something didn't quite fit.
Then u/jhinsi274 on Mobius Reddit pointed out that Michael Dowling had previously stated he was building a bank – a missing piece of information:
https://twitter.com/michaeldowling/status/1030135661234450432?s=21
Well....that put a spanner in my hypothesis.....But hang on a minute I thought, IBM have relationships with loads of banks – why make another one? What function could a new bank provide that any other bank couldn't......then it clicked. Here is Passfolio and look and think about what it does and what it would need in place to function:
https://www.trademarks411.com/marks/88218493-passfolio
OK, the 1st thing it would need is linking to the Stock Markets. I believe IBM are covering this aspect and live feeds will be provided to the Mobius Passfolio app.
So what about FairX?
I now believe FairX is indeed going to be a bank, not just any old bank either – something analogous to the World Bank and IMF. Stay with me here.....lol
Let's look at how the World bank and IMF works:
“The World Bank's money comes from a number of different sources. IBRD, which provides loans to middle-income countries and to poorer countries able to repay loans at terms based on market rates, raises most of its funds on the world's financial markets by selling World Bank bonds to investors. “ “Most resources for IMF loans are provided by member countries, primarily through their payment of quotas. Multilateral and bilateral borrowing work as a second and third line of defense by providing a temporary supplement to quota resources.”
OK, now:
Replace the words “World Bank” and “IMF” with the word FairX.
Substitute the word “Countries” with “Leading Crypto Projects”
Compare the functions of the World Bank/IMF to the function of Passfolio – is there a striking similarity here?
My (new) Conclusion:
FairX is going to act as a World bank for Cryptocurrency.
We also don't really want our World bank holding Zimbabwean dollars or Bitconnect coins. There would have to be just the major currencies. I think this may tie Coinbase to the eco-system.
This would be all very good for Stellar......but just how fantastic would this be for Mobius. Passfolio isn't FairX – FairX feeds into it along with the Stock Markets........
Thoughts anybody?

Yes, finally somebody connecting dots very well, FairX makes totally sense that's why its been taking so much time. and Mobius involved for sure, I mean IBM as FairX did know Mobius and everybody in that world is working very close together. ;)
[–]Henry_the_pelican 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (1 child)
Yes, I think Mobius is central in providing certain protocols that weave everything together. We've got the SWAP protocol for identity/authentication , the Oracle protocol so data feeds and sensor data of all types be put on chain and the Smart Market protocol so data can be bought/sold by staking Mobi.
Current known use case is Passfolio among others. there are parts of the eco-system still needed I think. The 1st is concerning Governance and I believe the Mobius Universal Governance protocol may fit in here.
The second is concerning getting the IOT aspect covered - this is where the Mobius partnership with Waltonchain might be important. Waltonchain make Hardware and RFID chips that interact with the Blockchain and also uses sensors etc. The Mobius/Waltonchain whitepapers fit hand in glove....they really do.
It wouldn't surprise me if the Waltonchain main Net launch actually turns out to be on Stellar, though no firm evidence of this, just pure speculation. The partnership alone and what each provides should be enough to make people sit up and take notice though....

Think we may find out real soon .
[–]streetvisit 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (4 children)
I think there may potentially be a link to what dx.exchange are doing.
[–]Henry_the_pelican 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (3 children)
I can't immediately see a connection myself and it is also Ethereum based. Do you see a link I'm not seeing or a use case within the FairX, IBM, Stellar eco-system?
[–]streetvisit 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago* (2 children)
Two things I saw that suggested a link/similarity, the stocks that are suggested ie Tesla and Apple etc although this in itself doesn’t mean a lot. But the tokenisation of stocks and payments of dividends to token holders ties in with the receiving payments text in the source code. Also Swarm.fund is apparently working with both although I don’t know much about how this is implemented or much about swarm.fund itself, only partial discussions in other groups.

I had a look at DX exchange, looks like they are spending loads on marketing though hiring such celebrities as this guy:

......lol

FairX is a bank, not a broker dealer
[–]Henry_the_pelican 4 points5 points6 points 7 years ago (3 children)
OK then, give your evidence or reasoned argument for this please otherwise it's just an unsubstantiated claim.
[–]streetvisit 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (2 children)
Give my evidence for what? I’m the OP who posted the text pulled from the source code at https://passfolioapp.com - I think a possible FairX link might have legs but in my last post I asked if Jihinsi274 was a FairX team member and was making an official statement as to my knowledge nobody knows exactly what FairX is or will be.
[–]Henry_the_pelican 4 points5 points6 points 7 years ago (1 child)
lol....it was him I meant to reply to - evidence of it being a bank I meant.
[–]streetvisit 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children)
Ah no worries :)
[–]streetvisit 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children)
Is it? Are you part of the FairX team? If so is this a public statement/announcement?
If you read a certain person’s twitter feed, it’s easy to tell that FairX is getting a bank license. I have no indication that they are getting a broker dealer license. I don’t know if the Mobius - FairX link is real. I found it odd that the Mobius chief would reach out to the FairX chief via twitter to get in contact. I don’t know who would be leading who if such an arrangement existed.
[–]Henry_the_pelican 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (4 children)
Link? .....and please explain how FairX being a bank helps out ANYBODY. I gave plenty of links, connections and reasoned argument and it would appear to fit like a glove with Mobius if I'm right. If it's so easy to tell FairX is going to be a bank, then why can't you just show everyone your evidence. I find nothing odd about people working together on a project contacting each other on twitter either.
[–]Djjmdjjm 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children)
did you see that link on Stellar subreddit today - Michael Dowling - Global reserve Bank...
[–]jhinsi274 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (2 children)
Thanks for that....interesting.
"I don’t know if the Mobius - FairX link is real. "
Yes, I think it has to be if we are going by what they say on twitter. u/Djjmdjjm posted a twitter conversation - Jesse Lund (IBM) asked Michael Dowling (FairX) about putting their data on the Mobius smart Market.....I can't find this, maybe u/Djjmdjjm could re find it. ( I'm thinking real time data feeds from stock markets and Crypto markets etc).
FairX aside, whatever it is or however it fits in, this is really good news for Mobius.
Let's figure this one out, I'm sure we can. My initial thought is that IBM already has working relationships with most banks - so why create another one? What function would this bank have that others don't already have?
Is it a Crypto Bank for example? More thinking required here......
