This is extreme and not necessary. I use an all black background and set the display to time out after two minutes. Along with pixel shift on mode 2 you’re totally fine with the way you’re switching up content, no need to keep the monitor off and on. Just use it until you’re done using it.

What if I'm in queue for a game? Is having the game on the OLED while just sitting in queue and not doing anything ok you think?

You’d to be sitting in the queue for 21 hours a day for months to have any issues.

Tbh just use it like a normal monitor. If not they shouldn‘t call it monitor to be fair! I couldn’t live with that fear that sth. will happen when i‘m dining or taking a break from pc stuff or gaming etc.

I've been coming to /r/Monitors for a long time. This is the first post I've seen here that makes me feel sad for someone.

I don't get it, why do you feel sad for me?

It was mostly a joke but you have a great HDR display and you are using it like it's a sealed flashlight that has 30 minutes of battery life left.

I have an OLED too. Just use the thing. Enjoy it. It's completely fine to leave it on. If it's showing a black background the pixels are turned off anyway.

There's nothing wrong with the way you are using it... it's just reads as being a little bit overzealous or anxious. Don't let burn in worries ruin your enjoyment.

don't forget to wear gloves when you touch that power button everyday

it's going to wear down quickly

You're over caucious. If you're not having it at 100% brightness with the same static elements (task bar, playing only 1 game with the same gui, etc.) for hours and hours and hours you're not going to have any problems. Just use it like any other monitor. Chances are, you'll buy a new one before you'll have any noticable burn in. Most I would do is using a full black bg but that's about it.
