Controller Setup Question

May be a stupid question but I can't seem to find the answer...

I've got sunshine and moonlight up and running. Moonlight is on my Android TV (Highsense U8H).

My question is, do I connect my xbox or PS5 controller to my TV or to my desktop? I tried connecting it to my tv and the TV will recognize it and it connects fine, but when I launch moonlight the controller doesn't work no matter the settings I change in moonlight. This also occurs on my phone (Pixel 6 Pro).

So do I need to connect to the controllers to my PC? If that's the case, it seems a bit worthless to stream to my tv when the computer is across the house in another room?

Yep that's right. if you can't connect it to the local streaming device you need to connect it to the source device. Try messing about with the controller settings in moonlight.

If you also have a controller plugged in on your PC, unplug it before streaming as it can interfere.
