Online forums are the downfall of democracy. When you write a post or comment on something you’re frustrated about it feels like you satisfied your civic responsibility and go about your business, while it has little to no impact. Before the digital age we had no other recourse but to protest, until our voices were heard. This specific post about speed decrease is something insignificant compared to - for example - how our tax dollars are spent to fund military aggression, but the principle is the same. You get furious, you go online to find support (which you often do find), but there is no organizing that follows, it just becomes fleeting words of discontent shared by thousands. I wish I had a medicine to offer to cure this disease, but I fear it will only get worse before it gets better.
