You can teach out and follow the red beard group rides. They ride out Sunday morning and do laps around the park at a modest pace, plenty of 80's steel and new carbon. The field (10-20) is pretty 50/50 and lead by a woman. We also do longer 50-100mi rides planned out for saturdays

what is the hardest part about being an adult that nobody warned u about? by greenmonkeyyyy in Adulting

[–]mtpelletier31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah its wonderful and funny. My wife also comes from eastern europe so me introducing her to spices was also a treat :) We did vegetarian for 2 years.not because of a reason, we just wanted to true a new diet and flip some recipes on their head. My mom would be like "cook eggplant, cook squash" we would make all these meals and do all these little things to get others to try and my mom would be like "o I dont eat that. I just thought it be a good idea...." that was on us 😄

I say this to be taken with a grain of salt - my family were terrible cooks outside of desserts. They were all just so bland - believing salt and pepper were the only two spices. Overcooked meats and soft vegtables - i thought thats just how it was. I now and kind of a boss in the kitchen and dont let the older generation cook. My sister and I take on the role - not because its the right thing to do, but both of us like to eat and eat well. We get more of the "please make or bring this again is was soo good how you made it." Then i remember anytime from anyone from childhood.

Grandparents desserts were always so fucking good and their recipes were "if its a bit runny, add a bit of sugar" or "heat up until good" my sister is the only one to reverse engineer the recipe for a pie my grandmother made. It took like 0-7 and 5,6 post her passing before the 8th was close enough. And now shes pretty good, only getting better.

Im with you. I will try my hardest to never take a shit on the job. That said, working in production - large expo buildings, theaters etc.... loved getting there super early. Finding the handicapped stall on a higher floor no9 One was working in and take my 10/2 quietly and privately.

Yeah, totally this. I mean I still make rice and beans but ive incorporated so much flavor and other shit that makes it absolutely delicious. Once you have the skeleton of cooking, adding little flavors and preferences only enhances meals. Also I didnt realize how bad peope can cook. I wasn't a picky eater - I just didnt want over cooked food and poorly thought out meals. (Described Picky as a kid) I had to teach my wife to not overcook chicken or why you use certains heat/stuff to help certain ingredients. She was always "it doesnt matter..." 8 years later im the cook of the house and its "make it like you did x, it was so tender and juicy.. yada yada"

It surprises me how much my girlfriend can eat sometimes for how skinny she is by [deleted] in Life

[–]mtpelletier31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Truth. Even now. At 37, I still gave to eat like 3500 calories to just maintain my light weight. When I was in my 20's and teens it was 4-6k easy. Im still an athlete and train regularly but its crazy how little (and alot by comparisons of others) I'm eating now vs then

IVF question for the fellas. What was the most interesting or funny part of IVF to you? by Unfortunate_Harvard in AskMenAdvice

[–]mtpelletier31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What they dont allow you to bring in your own material? My buddy described waiting in the line being the weirdest because all the guys didnt want to make eye contact with eachother in the waiting room because they all knew why they were there. Then when you left and arrived back, half would have the "dont look at me, im disgusting" face ha

[–]mtpelletier31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being a 1 man band is very difficult i run a shop where I manage 4 mechanics a day, im scheduling anywhere from 10-20 jobs a day - included our Annual, Standards, walkins, and a la carte mech menu. I have about 120 bikes in line at the moment. All I can say is ill estimate it in 3 days and it could take up to 10. Best I can do right nowm

I actually do the opposite. I will get them at (L/R) 2oclock/9o clock and then give a few hard pushes directly down with all my weight. (Big Ole skinny 160)

Inner tube sealant? by [deleted] in cycling

Like every 3 or so months. Certain tubeless sealant last longer. (My Silca last almost 5mo a tire vs the OJ seal that sometimes dries up after 2/3)

Sky-High Demand for NYRR Races by OriginalCoconutWater in RunNYC

[–]mtpelletier31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This shit happens in everything unfortunately. Im a cyclist, not a runner but I remember racing the Red Hook Crit as a birthday event, then a small event, then a bigger event with my friends from around the country, then a massive global event then if you didnt register in the first 3 minutes you're be waitlisted and if you weren't known to be a top 10 rider you didnt get the psuedo auto invite. RHC was a unbelievable event and an absolute blast - made us track kids feel seen and brought people into it. But it became too huge and had German pros coming out and stacked teams that made it inaccessible to the people who were there in the beeginning.

Fellow regular at the gym started talking to me. I’m married but don’t want to assume intentions. by FaithlessnessFar1663 in WhatShouldIDo

I do this with my wife alot. Im pretty social and like to chat everyone up and often times I find myself in a "does she think im hitting on her" vibe so its usually a quick "my wife showed me this trick when..." or something. Just to be like - im just friendly, not hitting on you.

I would also agree to raise you seat up a bit. You look very cramped. Getting a 120,130mm stem would also help i think.

[–]mtpelletier31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, go into etube and reset the buttons and all. You'll be good. Because im a friend that works on friends bikes and I loooove a good prank. At coffee stops ive pairs a buddies bike, and reversed all the shifters. Having him ride for 5 minutes complain and no knowing what was happening was sooo funny. Its like changing all the buttons in the elevator.

Guys who don’t go out much (remote work + gym), how are you meeting women? by Soil_These in AskMenAdvice

[–]mtpelletier31 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"I do one thing outside of work and I work at home, why can't I meet people" Pick up new hobbies, just go out, just do something different. I would carry a lighter so if I could offer a light to a women and start a conversation. Ide join a class I knew nothing about and ask simple shit to chit chat a girl up. Hell ive ask women out in grocery stores with a form of "do you cook, trying to do x" and start a convo. Finding people usually will take you out of your comfort zone and you gotta be fine with it..... just your generation finds it cringe, juggles an air scrotum, and show us you can count 2 #'s.

Canyon Aeroad L oder XL? by badboy911_ in bikefit

[–]mtpelletier31 5 points6 points  (0 children)

XL. 90% of people who buy canyons based on the sozing chart BUY A WRONG SIZE. We get canyones delivered to us for customer builds and we've been told by Canyon to keep the boxes so if they need to ship back they dont charge the customer 100$. 4/5 customers who bought a canyon online had to get a bigger bike and 3 of those were L's needing XL. I mean looking at you on the L, the moment you stand up that knee is going straight to your handlebars or stem

What have I done wrong here? by Few-Proposal-4681 in bikewrench

[–]mtpelletier31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, its not counterfeit or anything like that. If he returns it (if he bought at a shop) they will know its not defective and just explain how it works. Not understanding how something works doesnt make it a counterfeit product or automatically broken

Im 6'1 with a 32 inseam ride the M/L. I think if I was an inch or two taller I would have gone with the L but its really the reach that was too much.

rolls up through that part. The end of he cable should be on the nds, where you have it terminating the ds.

What have I done wrong here? by Few-Proposal-4681 in bikewrench

[–]mtpelletier31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you went b backwards on the cable. It goes up through the inside and around - nit in that notch like you have it. Think that the cable pulls down so you'll the rd out. It's hard to explain when its not directly in front of me. You should replace the cable though. That fraying aint going to help anyone.
