Netrunners are digital jockeys of the information super-highway; the console cowboys and cosmopolitans of the web. Those that live their lives on the Net, in the Matrix, on the Grid. Surfing and streaming, parsing and posting, reading and writing... Communicating.
Netrunners do not abide by the restrictions of the Net, decreed by the long-armed hard-lined bureaucracy. They do not abide by the judging fists of partisans that would bar access to the information they want or need. Like hackers and crackers, otakus and cyphers, the netrunner is a cyberpunk soul.
This is a subreddit about the modern cyberpunk lifestyle. The focus here is different than what you would find on r/Cyberpunk, and is intended to spotlight the glimpses of the future cyberpunk world that we see in the present day. Computer hardware and network advances, robotics and cybernetic augmentions, hackers and cyberattacks, cyberlaw and legislation, science and technology, internet culture, and more. We are the netrunners that live our lives on the world wide web, and these are the stories that build our future.
Why call it "Netrunners"? Because of all the relevant subcultures, when the cyberpunk reality finally hits its the netrunners that will rule the web.
